15 x 22 inches | Mixed Media Abstract Painting on Paper
Acrylics, collage, mark making

“What Was Left Unsaid” is about the deep, tender process of allowing the dark to exist—without fixing, hiding, or rushing past it. This piece started with layered collage and heavy dripping blacks—something I usually resist, but this time, I let it pour.

I played with acrylics, textures, scraps of fabric, and free mark making, allowing the piece to unfold with raw emotion. That dark patch in the center holds so much—anger, grief, memories I can’t name—but they’re not bad. They’re just unspoken. I added threads, stitches, and scraps, because healing isn’t clean—it’s stitched together from what we’ve survived.

And then, there’s a small butterfly rising up — a quiet moment of hope. It’s not escaping the dark, but rising through it.

This painting is framed in a floating frame, with a 1-inch reveal of white matte board, and a half-inch wooden edge, clean and minimal. The artwork is slightly raised, giving it depth and space to breathe.
